Recipes for homemade dog food

Doggy Hamburger

What you need:

  • 1 cup hamburger meat, stir-fried in 1 tbsp canola oil
  • 1/2 cup cooked plain oatmeal
  • 1 jar baby food green beans
  • 1 jar baby food carrots
  • 2 teaspoon cottage cheese
Combine all ingredients and serve at room temperature. A good dog multivitamin/ mineral supplement can be mixed in as well. Be sure to store unused portions in a covered container in the refrigerator and discard any remains after 2-3 days.

 

Meat Casserole

What you need:

  • 1 cup boiled poultry, chopped
  • 1/2 cup cooked brown rice
  • 1/2 cup boiled mixed vegetables
  • 3-4 tbsp (unsalted) chicken broth
Stir together and serve at room temperature. A good dog multivitamin/ mineral supplement can be mixed in as well. Be sure to store unused portions in a covered container in the refrigerator and discard any remains after 2-3 days.

 

Beef Treat

What you need:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 stalk of celery, minced
  • 1 carrot, minced
  • 1 potato, finely chopped
  • Water
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, minced
Brown the ground beef in a skillet. While the beef is cooking, prepare the remaining ingredients. Place garlic, celery, carrot and potato in a small sauce pan with enough water just to cover the vegetables. Bring to a boil, cover and reduce heat. Simmer for 20-25 minutes until the vegetables are tender. Drain vegetables and save the cooking water as vegetable stock for another meal. When the eef is cooked, remove it from the heat and toss with fresh parsley. Mix meat together with cooked vegetables and serve. Store leftovers in the refrigerator or portion and freeze them for future meals.

 

Basic Dog Food Recipe

What you need:

  • 4 cups uncooked rice
  • 9 cups water
  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons parsley, chopped fine
  • 3 ounces liver, chopped fine
  • 8 ounces ground beef (or chicken or lamb)
  • 3 tablespoons corn oil
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups vegetables (carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, etc.), chopped fine
Combine the rice, water, oats and salt in a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Once the mixture is boiling, add the remaining ingredients. Stir, turn heat to low, and cook for about 20 minutes until all water is absorbed. Then spread out in flat containers, cool and cut into half cup squares. When feeding, add cottage cheese or yogurt. A good dog multivitamin/ mineral supplement can be mixed in as well.
